10 Characteristics Of My Ideal Business

I've started many businesses that have flopped. Mostly they flopped because they were bad ideas and didn't make much money (if any at all). Some simply died in the crib. Others I shuttered because I discovered I didn't like them and they didn't align with the life I want to live.

Currently, I'm running a terrific online business that is growing and so far doing well. I don't talk about it on NotePD, as I'm not ready to announce it to the world yet, but at some point, I will discuss it. I also do a bit of freelance writing, but increasingly I'm growing weary of it.

All of these up-and-mostly-down experiences have made me wonder: What do I truly want my business to look like? How should it serve me, and how should it serve my audience?

    1. It doesn't feel like a business. It's just something I enjoy doing, and it's something that people get value from.

    2. I serve an audience of wonderful, kind people with similar values.

    3. It allows me to be location independent virtually all the time.

    4. I don't have to use social media unless I truly want to use it and it delivers value to my customers.

    5. It allows me at least enough income to meet the minimum amount to fund my ideal life.

    6. It truly makes my audience's lives better.

    7. I can work on it all day long if I want to, or I can take a week off and not skip a beat.

    8. It's something that I'm proud to tell people about.

    9. It allows me to connect with people who make me think about life from differing perspectives.

    10. It allows me complete autonomy over my life.
