10 Ideas For Pushup Challenges
List inspired by a recent discussion about & participation in the popular 'Sally Up, Sally Down' & 'Ray Lewis Deck Of Cards' Push-Up Challenges.
1. Roll The Dice
Roll two pairs of dice 12 times. Do that # of pushups daily.
2. 'Level Up' Other Popular Challenges
Make a series of several levels of difficulty (incline, decline, handstand, one-arm, etc.) and apply these to any pre-existing challenge.
3. 365 Streak
Begin with 1 on Day 1 and proceed up to 365 total completed for each day in one year without missing a day.
4. 1,000,000 Club
Achieve 1,000,000 completed in your lifetime by any means necessary.
(I know one person doing this: Ed Hanko.)
5. Meeting -5
A play on the phrase "T-minus 5 and counting ...," this beginner challenge is designed to get people to do five pushups before any work meeting.
6. Screen Time Bank
You must deposit 1 challenging set of pushups relative to your fitness level into your 'screen time bank' before every hour of screen time usage.
7. +1 Your +1
Get a partner, IRL or digital. Report reps completed back and forth to each other in real-time after each session. Establish a nightly cutoff time that neither can continue past. Do one more pushup than they do each day.
8. Fight For Your Right (To Party)
For each alcoholic drink you intend to consume, you must do 50* push-ups first.
*You could modify the number, but it should be challenging.
(This could also be applied to eating desserts, etc.)
9. Younger Each Year
I do an expanded version of this across multiple exercises. For push-ups only:
Complete the number of pushups equal to your age in less time than you did on your birthday last year.
(This requires training throughout the year, of course.)
10. 10K Gold
Do 100 push-ups per day for 100 days in a row by any means necessary.
