10 lessons and wins in the past few months
1. Back with NotePd
2. Working on simple mindfulness and intention
For example, taking coffee outside and focusing on the enjoyment of that experience
3. A cashier asked if I was having a good weekend and I said yes before I knew why
I had to think about it but just accomplishing simple chores felt really good this weekend
4. Talking to my daughter about the gap and the gain
This is one of Dr Ben Hardy’s concepts: the gap is what you wish you had (leading to envy, helplessness, failure) and the gain is concentrating on what you have done for yourself leading to clearer paths and satisfaction in accomplishments
5. Putting in an order for a b-bender bridge
6. Assembling my mobile practice rig
Battery powered gear strapped to a guitar stand on ehrels
7. Installing an in wall pantry
I took 3 shallow Ikea shelves and mounted them like a medicine cabinet inside a wall space; I'm pleased with the results
8. Mindset shift to leave work at 5 every day
My wife has been asking me to do this for 20 years. I get almost as much done between four and five as I was getting done between four and 630 because of the deadline pressure.
9. Getting better at using AI
Consistent practice gets more value. By contjnuploudly pushing what I ask for i get better results
10. Checklists help me get the most out of a day
For example this weekend I had a list (of 10!) things that I wanted to get done. I had 1-2 things left and I just decided to spend 5 minutes knocking them out at the end of the night.
