10 lessons on painting
been doing a lot of this recently
1. Prep time should be at least 5x paint time
2. Most blemishes get worse with additional coats of paint
3. Buy the best paint you can find, even if it seems “expensive “
Buy once, cry once
4. Don’t bother saving or re using rollers
Maybe wasteful but they’re very cheap and it’s good to use a fresh one for each new job
5. Wear disposable gloves
6. Learn to cut in on a ceiling using a brush
Will usually turn out better than trying to tape a line
7. Buy a paint stirring attachment for your drill
Does a much better job
8. Use less paint on each coat
Avoid drips
9. Most consumer grade sprayers are not worth the effort for the homeowner
10. If you are repairing an area paint at least the whole wall if not the whole room
Smaller repairs stand out like a sore thumb
