10+ life lessons from attending the funeral of an 18 year old

    1. Showing up matters , it meant so much to Sol's parents that their son's life meant so much to other people

    2. The sun shine can bring warmth to the darkest of times

    3. I recognise my own selfishness in finding my own relief in my family not having to face such horrible circumstances

    4. Life is so precious and fleeting

    5. It's ok to be an imperfect parent as long as you are loving

    6. You can't be wholly responsible for saving some one

    7. Don't just show up on the day be available after the event

    8. We all have our different ways of dealing and showing grief

    9. Being stuck in a traffic jam on the way home makes you realise why do we let petty worries frustrate us

    10. His Doc Martin boots on the coffin were an image I will never forget. Flowers aren't the only objects

    11. Attending the crematorium was a bit like a drive thru with each funeral party given 30 minutes for the service . Go in one door and out you go through another . So impersonal
