10 out of the box marketing/sales ideas
1. Gift wrap it.
People like opening presents. Whatever you're sending or selling, even if it's a question on a piece of paper, wrap it up and make it feel like they're opening something special.
2. Give them a thoughtful gift.
In addition to whatever they've already purchased, or, better, beforehand, give them something to remember you by. It can be small - like a Fischer Space Pen, which I recently got along with a box of food samples - but make sure it's not cheesy & ubiquitous (like regular pens, or pins that no one wears).
3. Let them pay whatever they think it's worth.
Depending on the product / service, this puts the feeling of power in their hands.
4. Offer a one-time, lifetime purchase.
Buy it once, and you'll never have to pay again.
5. Offer a referral commission in perpetuity.
The chance for your customers to make passive income for life.
6. Hand-deliver in person.
Either by you or one of your team.
7. Offer a seemingly unrelated or ridiculous (but intriguing & compelling) bonus.
For example:
- Join our gym and we'll wash your car!
- Order our device and get a free 1-year magazine subscription!
Etc.
8. Go beyond the 100% money-back guarantee ... offer 150% or 200%!
In other words, if they're really not happy, YOU will pay THEM.
9. Make your product or service extremely exclusive.
Use the 'velvet rope' strategy - say NO to a large number of people, create a long line to get in.
10. Openly challenge every competitor to beat you at your game.
Whether that be quality, price, service, etc., make sure you brazenly & publicly make them seem ashamed or inferior.
