10 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Take Notes (Especially Not Smart Notes)

    1. Taking notes takes time and energy. This creates an opportunity cost. With the same amount of time and energy, you could have been learning something else.

    2. It creates a reliance on external tools. So you miss the opportunity to practice upgrading your brain to the next level.

    3. Note taking does to learning what photo taking does to travel. You spend every minute taking photos and miss out on enjoying everything else around you.

    4. By taking notes all the time, you never come to realize how to tap into the true power of your subconscious mind, which is infinitely more powerful than any note-taking system.

    5. The speed at which you learn is limited to the speed at which you write or type.

    6. Note taking takes away time from day dreaming. And day dreaming is one of the most powerful tools you can have in your arsenal.

    7. Note taking assumes that important insights are limited in quantity and must be captured before they are forgotten. However, the truth is, great insights are unlimited in quantity, and exist all around us if we would just look.

    8. You have to manage all the piles and piles of notes (whether digital or physical) after you document them. And this takes time too.

    9. Note taking is a great transitional tool as you transition from relying on external tools to the power of your infinite brain. However, it can often become a crutch that doesn't allow you to improve. Like what glasses do for myopia.

    10. Note taking can be inconvenient sometimes. Notes get wet. Phones break. Batteries die out.
