10 side topics that interest me
These are the first ten areas of interest that came to mind spontaneously.

1. Programming
in Python and JavaScript. I also love the beauty of Ruby.
2. Languages
English is the only foreign language I am really using, except some French when I'm on holiday. I started learning some Russian and Danish.
3. Painting
Gouache. This may lead to some illustrations.

4. Drawing
I published a picture book with pretty bad illustrations, and my friends are getting hand drawn greeting cards regularly.
5. Martial arts
Especially the soft ones like Aikido and Tai Chi. They are probably ineffective, but good training. There is also an element to martial arts that is similar to Philosophy: Finding the truth about what works and what doesn't.
6. Economics
How the supply of money and the promotion of economic sectors hopefully leads to wealth. I started studying it and gave up after one semester (because I found it exhausting and boring). I went on to study political science and history.
7. Philosophy
This is really cool. Thinkers who create their own systems to model the world. But, to be honest: I read philosophical books only occasionally. Mostly secondary literature. My favorites are Karl Popper, David Hume, Arthur Schopenhauer and Plato.
8. Aquariums
An aquarium is like a small garden, but it requires some knowledge of chemistry and ecology.
9. Music
I didn't have to learn how to read music or play an instrument at school. I've been playing the ukulele for a few years now.
10. Psychology
Maybe someday I'll start a correspondence course in psychology. On one hand, to understand people better. On the other hand, it's probably an ego thing: getting a certificate that certifies that you can see through people.
