I'm fortunate to live in a beautiful little town with lovely people. However, today I drove into the Phoenix/Scottsdale area to join a friend for a run. While driving out and back, I encountered some things I *don't* like about that area, and it made me feel grateful for where I live now.
1. People don't ignore one another. They smile and say hello when you cross paths.
2. Amenities such as restaurants, coffee shops, and markets are within walking distance.
3. When you approach someone, or when someone approaches you, the immediate assumption is there will be a positive interaction rather than skepticism over what the other person wants.
4. Few people speed or are reckless while driving. They don't tail you or cut you off.
5. There isn't a lot of traffic.
6. There is a lot of natural beauty.
7. Lots of people have dogs!
8. There are may lovely paths to walk, hike, or run.
9. It's clean. You won't find unwanted graffiti or trash laying around.
10. The pace of life is slower, and that's a good thing.
