10 Things to Have That Cost Nothing but Are Worth Everything

“The paradox seems to be, as Socrates demonstrated long ago, that the truly free individual is free only to the extent of his own self-mastery. While those who will not govern themselves are condemned to find masters to govern over them.” - Steven Pressfield.

I hope the list will help us on our way to self-mastery and thus live the life we are meant to live. A life without resistance, as Steven Pressfield said, “Most of us have two lives: the life we live and the un-lived life within us. Between the two stands resistance.”

    1. Have Purpose

“The two most important days in life are the day you born and the day you discover the reason why.” – Mark Twain.

My mission in life is to positively impact a billion people through value creation in building businesses, writing books, sharing ideas, mentoring, etc.

With purpose, we are empowered to consciously create a worthy future. Of course, purpose can change as we navigate life and evolve.

    2. Have Core Values

    “Your beliefs become your thoughts,
    Your thoughts become your words,
    Your words become your actions,
    Your actions become your habits,
    Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.” ― Gandhi

The quote works both ways, your values guide your habits, etc.

    3. Have Priorities

Without priorities, we are easily distracted. We fill in the time with businesses, which is resistance in disguise. The resistance between the current self and future self sits between the current and un-lived life.

But, if you have more than 3 priorities, you have none.

    4. Have Principles

“Principles are ways of successfully dealing with reality to get what you want out of life.” ― Ray Dalio

Principles are the implementation of our core values.

    5. Have Goals

Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, you can achieve.

    6. Have Courage

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” ― Nelson Mandela

““The thing about growing up with Fred and George,“ said Ginny thoughtfully, “ is that you sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve.“ — J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

    7. Have Humility

“It is unwise to be too sure of one's own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.” ―Mahatma Gandhi.

    8. Have Hope

“Hope guides me. It is what gets me through the day and especially the night. The hope that after you’re gone from my sight it will not be the last time I look upon you.” ― Knight's Tale

    9. Have Faith

Faith breeds courage and abundance. It is the ultimate expression of hope.

    10. Have Abundance Mentality

Abundance mentality widens our horizon, allows us to see more opportunities, more options, alternative paths, and see good in people.
It is key to building the life we are meant to live.

    11. Have a Long-term Horizon

In a world where quick wins are the norm, having a long view gives you the house advantage. Great things take time.
