10 Ways Technology Changes How I Decide

Thinking today about how AI changes the way I write and work, the theme of my Tuesday Substack post (shameless promotion meter pegged).

    1. It makes the first answer feel sufficient.

    "Yep, that's good enough."

    2. It reduces the pause between question and conclusion.

And skips over possible good stuff therein.

    3. It replaces wrestling with reacting.

And my brain can get quite "WWE-ish" - good for the thought process, not so good for getting distracted.

    4. It makes clarity feel automatic.

    "Got it!" Or do I?

    5. It lowers the emotional cost of moving on.

"No biggie - not invested in it, let's go get a snack."

    6. It smooths rough edges before I notice them.

Even when the rough edges are the best part.

    7. It shortens the distance between idea and output.

Again, maybe missing the good sh*t created in that gap.

    8. It rewards speed over reflection.

Get 'er done. Miss some / a lot?

    9. It makes competence easier than conviction.

    Can't we have both?

    10. It quietly shifts who feels responsible for the result.

    "Blame it on ChatGPT!"
