1. Be generous with your time.
Time is our most valuable resource. Often, people in our lives just want some time with us to connect.
2. Be generous with your attention.
These days, we're all distracted. Notifications on our devices scream for our attention. Endless email, texts, calls, updates, etc.....most of which are of no importance or significance. One of the greatest gifts that we can give others is our complete and undivided attention. Think about how rare that is these days, and you will understand how valuable it is.
3. Be generous with you money.
You don't need to be a wealthy philanthropist in order to be generous with your money. There are countless small projects that you can donate small amounts of money to that will be massively appreciated. Check out donorschoose.org and find a classroom in an underfunded school to donate to. Your small donation will make an impact on a group of young people who desperately need your help.
4. Be generous with your expertise.
There have been more than 50 million people who've been forced to file for unemployment over the past several years. Many of those people have been forced to pivot and try to find work in industries that they don't have any experience/relevant skills in. If you're fortunate to have work in a relevant field, find someone who might benefit from your mentorships. They're out there, there are millions of us. Find one person and help them get to where they want to go.
5. Be generous with your network.
Every day, introduce someone who can benefit from meeting someone in your network. Having a strong network is an invaluable asset. You can change someone's life with one introduction.
6. Be generous with your things.
Most of us have more things than we need. Personally, I've had many books that I'll never have enough time to read. I've had more clothes than I need. So I donate books to little libraries on the street and extra clothing to places like the Salvation Army and Goodwill.
7. Be generous with your praise.
Many people are struggling these days. Oftentimes, if you can find something about them to praise, you can make their day. See the good in people.
8. Be generous with your blood.
It's not an understatement to say that you can help save a life with a blood donation.
9. Be generous with your car.
The cost of gas has crushed many people's budgets. See if you can offer to drive people somewhere and give them a brief respite from getting pounded at the pump.
10. Be generous with your forgiveness.
This is something I need to work on. I could benefit from being more forgiving. Most people don't set out in the morning to wrong us, they're usually just trying to get through their day just like us. When we forgive, we are freed from the anger, bitterness, resentment, and hurt that previously imprisoned us.
