A Good Saturday

Two big things on Saturday, our big annual fire department fundraiser and my wife and I went to a fire buddy's wedding.

1. Walker Day

That is what the event is called. There's a garage sale, car show, cake walk, cook out, silent auction, raffle and music. It seem like people had fun and it was wildly successful as a fund raising event.

2. New 2.5" hose

I ordered a bunch of hose for the new engine and fortunately, it was the right thread to be compatible with the rest of our equipment. I was sure I ordered the right stuff but it was a new vendor. The relevance to Saturday is it came late Friday night and we opened it up Saturday morning and checked it.

3. Great turnout of firefighters

It is important that there be a lot of blue shirts (firefighters) at the few community events we have during the year and fortunately we did. We also had a lot of time to hang out build rapport like it was a team building type of day. We have several new firefighters and all of us getting to know each other better will only help the department's cohesion.
