Alcohol Solutions
My previous list discussed why minimum pricing is being implemented and why I think it will do more harm than good.
This is a list of what I think could help.
1. Social spots
Pub/club culture is mostly about socialising. Implement alternatives and you'll soon decrease the amount of drinking as well as boosting people's mental health in the process.
Coffee shops that encourage chit chat. Restaurants. Bowling, laser tag, axe throwing etc. sports centre's. Education /skills Classes.
Focus on building thing's that will bring people together.
2. Mental health
People drink to reduce their stress levels. A push to teach philosophical thinking would be an easy way to reduce stress (focus on what's in your control, notice bad thoughts and replace with positive thoughts, ask better questions etc.) if they struggle they can always share my The Rocco Effect comics which are full of this sort of advice.
Why are people stressed? I think a big part of it is the social aspect so implementing the Ideas I previously stated would also help here. Bad thinking only enhances stress, hence why I'd like a push on how to think like a philosopher.
Government agencies also add to stress, by being useless. My friends recently had a kid and have been have been handed an eviction notice, effectively making them homeless very soon. Government housing have only just looked at pro cessing there paperwork for a new house after complaining to higher ups. And it's not just them, many struggle with housing. Job centre is useless. There's too many unemployed compared to jobs going. Especially when you factor in travel, skills and knowledge. GPS won't see you unless it's an 'emergency ' leading to sick people getting worse until it's too late. And this is only the tip of the needle when it comes to government agencies causing stress.
3. Projects
When I'm working on something I drink less. I want to spend every minute I can working away making it the best I can. Drink means I'll be recovering in bed the next day, which is a day wasted.
I think if we encouraged people to work on project's they'd drink less, they'd also improve their mental health and benefit the country with their creation's.
School's should be project based instead of exam based. This creates entrepreneurs instead we've been creating USB drives. Holders of knowledge, but with no wisdom on how to properly use it.
4. Drink amplifies your current mood
Teaching this will lead to more happy drunks, which will lead to less drunk related crime.
If you're happy drink will make you happier, but if you're angry drink will make you far angrier. It's the same for any emotion. Once you stop feeling happy, stop drinking.
This is a personal recommendation rather than government based. Government can only do so much it comes down to the individual to make that final step and choose to stop. It's up to the government to make that choice as easy as possible.
