Annual Firefighter Appreciation Event
Every labor day weekend we hold a community event called Firefighter Appreciation. It a chance for the community to thank the firefighters for the work done over the course of the year. It is a fun time but I think it's really more for the community than the firefighters but that's ok.
Part of the event is I have to do a little speech about the previous 12 months. This list will be the outline of what I talk about.

1. Talk about the success of finally getting our new engine and having integrated it into our operations
2. Touch on some of our intermediate and longer term planning
Use Engine 86 as an example
3. Talk about how many new firefighters we have
We had a recruiting event last November which brought in six new firefighters and then we added like 4 or 5 more. It was our biggest batch of recruits that we've had in maybe 20 years.
4. Quick pitch for still more recruits
We always need people. Being a firefighter is a ton of fun and it is always easy for me to share why that is.
