Are There Things You Wished You Liked But You Don’t?
1. Level 42
They are my husband's favourite band - ever. I've been to several concerts. He's blind so can't get there on his own. The first concert wasn't too bad. The second, I realised it wasn't for me. The third, I didn't enjoy. The fourth, I wish I'd taken earplugs - I don't like loud noise and by the end of the concert, everything sounded the same. The best bit about the fourth concert was going to the loo. I left Chris standing up, singing and dancing. By the time I came back, it was a different song. Everyone else was sitting down and Chris was still standing up and dancing! It was a bit of a poignant moment for me because he didn't realise everyone else had sat down but we laugh about it now.
I have met Mark King - before one of the aforementioned concerts. Chris is a huge, huge fan. I just find a lot of the guitar slaps very discordant, and the famed guitar playing doesn't do anything for me at all. I wish it did.
2. Clothes shopping - or any shopping (apart from tech and stationery)
I am not a woman who has hundreds of shoes in her closet. I have almost (but not quite) hundreds of fountain pens though. And lots of notebooks. I quite literally end up with nothing to wear before I will go clothes shopping. I loathe supermarket shops too. I don't get the appeal of shopping at all.
3. Christmas
I could take or leave Christmas. I just about managed to put up a tree this year. It's pink and is assembled. During the year it lives in a tall cupboard. I carry it downstairs and plug it in! Christmas! I'm taking the tree down today. It's not exactly a big job. If I lived on my own, I doubt I would bother about Christmas at all. I'd probably do something more pagan like the Solstice.
4. Wine
I'm allergic to alcohol so it's completely off my radar. I am interested in French wines though and have managed to make some good purchases over the years, even though I've never tasted them!
5. Cooking
I can cook but it holds little interest for me apart from the practicalities of cooking a basic meal. I don't like people in my kitchen and I am clueless in other people's kitchens. I never know how best to help out. I love baking and make good cakes.
6. Noise
I like peace and quiet, and silence. I find it hard to work with background noise.
7. Socialising
I'm much happier on my own than on a night out! I'm very poor at small talk, and find making conversation at events quite a challenge.
8. Exercise
The only exercise I've ever loved was kickboxing. I trained for about 12 years. I was not a great kickboxer but I enjoyed everything about it, including the deep exhaustion afterwards.
9. Dresses
I'm happiest in jeans and walking boots or wellies. I don't own a single dress or skirt and haven't done for years, decades even. I don't plan on buying any either. (See shopping above!).
10. Beach holidays/hot weather
I'm just not a fan! The idea of lying on a beach is boring for me. I'd rather be doing something. I prefer cold weather too.
