1. We know each other well
2. Everyone knows what appetizers and wine to order, even before everyone arrives... even better, it's there upon arrival
3. The tradition of presents is surviving and we get each other things we actually use
4. Going out to dinner is fun and ridiculous in cost. It's a gift in experience all the way around.
