Candidates for the 11th Province
1. Turks & Caicos
This has long been discussed but got the most traction in the 1990s.
2. California
This blue state seems to find itself at odds with the rest of the USA sometimes and as an economic powerhouse would be most welcome as part of Canada.
3. Alaska
Stand-up Comedian Christian Finnegan has pointed out how odd it is that Alaska is in fact, not part of Canada. It's right there.
4. Republic of Ireland
They resisted Brexit and stayed part of the EU putting them out of step with the UK. On the other hand, being a Republic maybe they wouldn't want to be part of a monarchy again...
5. New Zealand
I'm not sure the idea would appeal to them beyond the lure of sticking it to Australia.
6. Taiwan
Stick it to the People's Republic of China
7. Basque Country
Either they'd commiserate with Quebec and its separatist leanings or wind up replacing Quebec.
8. Israel
There's a joke about Moses stuttering when he asked God for Canaan when he was trying to request Canada.
9. Costa Rica
The Canadian Military is not one of the world's most powerful, but it does exist and could protect Costa Rica, which to my understanding does not have its own military.
10. Zimbabwe
I wanted to include an African country, and I just like saying 'Zimbabwe'.
