David Nusbaum (grandfather)

When I first saw this picture I joke that David was the first Nusbaum to be a firefighter.

2. Born in Tarnopol, Austria which is now part of Poland

3. He came over on a boat to Ellis Island in what I think was 1912

4. He listed a sister on his paperwork as his contact in the US in New Jersey

5. For a time he has a live-in handy man for Thomas Edison

He woke Edison up every morning.

6. His wife Ester came to the US later

7. He accumulated some wealth but was hurt badly when the stock market crashed in 1929

He wasn't ruined, just hurt badly.

8. He and my father didn't get along for a while after my father came back from WWII

9. They grew closer later in my grandfather's life.
