Don't think you're better than the past.
I see this a lot. People say, "if I could just travel to the 1800s I'd be the best chess player in the world." As if talent and skill have improved SO MUCH that world champions in chess in the 1800s suck compared to the average player now.
Here's a game from Wilhelm Steinitz who was world champion in chess in the 1800s.
It's white to move and win. But don't consider it "solved" unless you see ALL the lines. The critical line is 30 half-moves long. I saw the first few moves but did not see all the lines until I looked up the answer.
