1. The gateway to love.
You’ve been lied to. Fear isn’t the enemy — it’s the gatekeeper. The more you try to run from it, suppress it, or “get rid of it,” the more you cement it as real. The ego wants you to believe fear is something you need to conquer or eliminate. That’s the trap. What if fear isn’t something to destroy, but something to understand?
In ACIM, fear is the veil that hides love, and love is what you are. So, when we resist fear, we’re resisting the very process that can bring us back to love. To “care for” fear means to stop pushing it away. You observe it, acknowledge it, and allow it to exist without judgment. This is radical. Most of us are conditioned to think fear is a sign of weakness or failure. But fear is just a misunderstanding, a distorted reflection of love.
Loving fear? That’s the ultimate ego disruptor. To love fear means to neutralize its power, to stop seeing it as a villain and start recognizing it as a part of the illusion. You’re no longer caught in its web when you look at it with the eyes of understanding. The ego wants you to “fight” fear because in the battle, fear wins. The moment you try to eradicate it, you’re giving it importance. You’re buying into the story that fear is real.
Instead, ACIM teaches that fear, like all illusions, can only dissolve through awareness. When you look fear in the eye and say, “I see you, but I’m not fooled by you,” you’re on the path back to love. Fear isn’t something external or monstrous — it’s simply the absence of love. And you don't fight an absence. You fill it with what’s real.
So stop trying to get rid of fear. Stop feeding the illusion. Sit with it, care for it, love it into nonexistence. Because when you understand fear, you unlock the door to what’s on the other side — your true Self, which is pure love.
