First post

Just came across Notepd. I'll be honest - I don't know what the long-term value of this site will be, but honestly, I just like the idea behind it and want to use it as my own outlet to express ideas. (I just wrote out the word idea twice!)

I do love ideas; I even love the word itself. But I probably am biased...honestly, I am not an executor, I am a person with severe - and I mean severe - anxiety issues and OCD. That makes it difficult to execute and effect stuff.

However, I think ideas do have value, even though most people say that's crap. The reason they do is because they want to take your ideas and not pay you for them; to do that, the concept of them must be de-valued. Yet, if I come up with an idea for a screenplay, even though I have not written it out, the idea must have value...it has to start with that. That would be the first impression of what ultimately becomes Spider-Man or Star Wars or Forrest Gump...the concept; the idea.

I just read back what I wrote...not well-written. Not sure how long I will be active here or if I use the site infrequently, but I will note that I am just going to write and not worry about the construction...truthfully, not enough time to polish stuff with all my other writing. Yet, I have observed James Altucher's career on and off and have read a lot about him; if I recall correctly, this is what he recommends: just get it out there. Don't worry if it is perfect; write out something, then be loose, heck, take the first and last sentence off and go with that, gets the job done quicker that way.

You know how it goes - you sign up for a site and could get bored with it soon enough. This could be my only post, who knows (doubtful, though, because I have some idea lists I want to share). I am nervous about social media; I don't have Twitter/etc. accounts. But like I say, I know some of Mr. Altucher's past activities, and he simply fascinates me. He's an optimist, an investor, a serial entrepreneur....he's who I would like to be. I bet he has a lot of passive income (something a person with my handicaps would love!) from all of his ventures. Again, he's fascinating, and I did want to try this out. We'll see what happens. I did Wattpad for a while and still do to some extent, but that is an example of a site where you try it, fail, then lose interest. We'll see where this goes, but I do have to learn more about the terms of service. If anyone can comment, here is a question...if by luck someone buys a movie/TV show idea I list, do I have to pay Notepd a commission? Fair enough if that is the case, but just wanted to know. And what I mean specifically is, if I don't try to sell it, someone just sees it and offers a bid to me by contacting me through the site. Thanks. (And I hope this post unlocks my ability to comment, because I saw another post and really want to!)
