how to create memories that last forever with loved ones
1. Travel with Loved Ones
Let me tell you some stories:
A) When I was 23, I went on a trip to Israel with my parents. It was the first time we had ever traveled together. And it was a disaster! But it forced us to confront our issues and we've been close ever since.
B) My kids are always asking me, "Dad, can we go on another trip?" And I say, "No, we just went on one." They say, "But that was fun!" So...we're going again this summer (to Japan).
C) My wife and I went to Italy for our 20th anniversary (a few years ago). We were in Venice for our actual anniversary but then stayed for two more weeks after that. It's one of the best trips of my life. She even wrote a book about it called "Packing Light" because she only brought one suitcase for the entire trip (and still had plenty of stuff).
D) Every year now we go somewhere in the US during July 4th weekend. The first few times we did this it was just the three of us but now extended family comes along as well. We rent an RV and drive from city to city seeing fireworks shows all over the country. This year we'll probably be in Denver but other years has included cities like San Francisco, Chicago (where they shoot off hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of fireworks), New York (where there's always a giant display right near where the twin towers used to be), etc.
E) When Robyn was pregnant with our daughter, I took her out every night for dinner during her pregnancy until she gave birth. Some people might think that's weird but it wasn't at all because it forced us to spend quality time together during what would have otherwise been stressful months if she were by herself at home waiting around for labor pains while watching TV or whatever else people do when they are waiting for labor pains .
