1. Choose a topic that you are passionate about
The best books are about topics the author is truly passionate about.2. Figure out your "story"
What is the arc of your story? Is there an inciting incident? A climax? A resolution?3. Who is your audience?
Know who will be interested in reading your book.4. Outline and write the first chapter.
Then write the second chapter, then third, etc.5. Know what stories you want to tell within the larger story arc.
Each chapter should tell a mini-story within the larger story.6. Don't worry about style or grammar or anything like that at first. Just get it down on paper.
You can always edit later but if you don't put it down on paper at some point you will never finish it.7. When in doubt, cut it out. Be ruthless with editing. Be even more ruthless with not writing in the first place if it's not going anywhere.
There's no such thing as writer's block when writing a book but there IS such thing as "this idea is not going anywhere". Cut it out and move on to another idea or chapter or story within the larger story arc of your book.
