How would you improve US health care?

1. Decouple employment and healthcare.

This is #1 and by FAR the most important. As an entrepreneur, getting and paying for good health insurance is my biggest challenge.

2. Keep it in the private sector but improve the public contributions to the system - i.e., Medicaid and Medicare.

As a healthcare provider I don't even participate in Medicaid or Medicare because the system is too difficult to navigate and it takes too long to get paid. Simplify and streamline. 

3. Focus on and reward preventive healthcare.

This is also huge. Traditionally, in the U.S,., 80% of healthcare costs were at the end of life. It's not in the healthcare industry's interest to keep you well. This is a perverse incentive. Do something to reward providers who keep people well rather than treat end-of-life illnesses.
