Invest in Peace, Not Possessions. (3 min)

    1. Liberate yourself from life's chains.

Hello, Mighty Companions, let's dive into the difference between preferences and investments — two sides of the same coin, but one can trap you, and the other can set you free.
We are not ask to deny our experiences in this world. Denial wouldn’t work anyway because, let’s face it, we believe we’re bodies living in a world full of other bodies. Everything about this world, including our belief in it, is part of the illusion. But here's an important insight: rather than denying our experiences, we’re asked to shift how we experience them — from the wrong mind to the right mind.
So, what’s the big deal between having a preference versus an investment?Let me give you an example that hits close to home in 2024. Imagine you’re binge-watching your favorite show on Netflix. It’s the season finale, and you’re all in. But suddenly, your internet crashes. Now, if you’ve got an investment in finishing that show right now, you're going to lose it—rage at your ISP, curse the heavens, and maybe even start firing off angry tweets because you "cannot be at peace" until you see how it ends.
But if it’s just a preference, you might grumble, sure, but then you’ll move on. Maybe you’ll read a book, call a friend, or just hit the sack. The world hasn’t ended because you can’t watch the finale tonight.
That’s the difference — an investment demands the world to bend to your will. It says, "I can’t be happy unless X, Y, or Z happens." It’s the same when you’re out to dinner, and the restaurant’s out of your favorite dish. If you’re invested, you’re upset, maybe even storming out. But if it’s just a preference, you roll with it. You ask, "What else is good?" and get on with your night.
This goes beyond ice cream flavors or Netflix finales. It’s about your life. Do you insist that people see you as the center of the universe, or can you be okay with them seeing you as just another human being? Do you demand that your boss, partner, or friends treat you a certain way—or else? Or can you let go and realize that peace doesn’t depend on them playing by your rules?
When we insist on fulfilling our investments, we’re choosing hardness, rigidity, and often cruelty. We’re choosing the ego. But when we recognize that these are just preferences, we can let go, and we choose kindness, gentleness, and ultimately, peace. It’s not just a choice between vanilla or chocolate — it’s a choice between Heaven or hell.
