Languages I'd want my kid to learn (I don't have a kid yet)

Not all of them obviously, but at least a couple of them including my native language. I grew up speaking two languages and I think it was very valuable (even though I forgot one of them). I have a cousin who raised her kid in three languages (French, English, Turkish).

    1. French

    My native language

    2. English

Will probably happen sort of automatically.

    3. Armenian

Just because some Armenian guy once told me Armenian has so many different sounds that it helps you be good at pronouncing any other language. That being said, there are probably other languages better than Armenian for this purpose, but I have not looked into it.

    4. Mandarin Chinese

Such different pronunciation, I'd think if you know Chinese + one or two Indo-European languages, it gives you a big advantage in terms of learning the pronunciation of other languages. And of course it looks like Chinese is becoming such an important language now, what if in ten or twenty years it's just like English now? It already is an important language outside the West, I think.

    5. Spanish

    6. Japanese

    7. Esperanto as a native language?

Lol that would require some effort. Maybe an au pair who speaks it? :D

    8. Russian

The good thing about growing up with Russian is that you don't have to go through the pain of learning it as an adult :D

    9. Turkish

    10. Swahili
