My problem is temporary. A belief that can change your life

What do you think about when you feel overwhelmed?

Take a concrete example and analyze the situation. You will often find the concept of permanence.

The difference between manageable difficulties and those that become more serious is (often) hidden in a belief. My problem is temporary or permanent.

Seeing the situation, no matter how serious, as temporary gives hope. This is one of Viktor Frankl's key messages in his book Man's Search for Meaning.

How do you adopt a new belief?

    1. Evaluate what your brain is serving you, "I'm overwhelmed " because :

    • I am bad...
    • Over the last three weeks, it's been getting worse
    • Every time I get out of it, there's something that makes me fall back in.

    2. How do I reprogram this part (I'm overwhelmed) intentionally?

This problem is not permanent, because :

    • In the past, I've been able to get rid of it several times.
    • I've had problems that seemed even worse than this one and I've solved them.
    • I know several people who seemed even more overwhelmed than me and who now seem calm and serene.

And now, hammer the nail in, following these two steps, and get rid of your old belief.

    3. List in writing what it will cost you to continue to hold your old belief.

    • The situation is likely to get worse.
    • I risk burnout
    • I could lose my job and the people I love.

    4. Imagine yourself having managed to deal with this crisis, how do you feel?

    • I have found back my joy of living
    • This situation has made me grow personally and professionally
    • The people who love me congratulate me

    5. There is no growth without reflection.

What you believe affects your life tremendously. Now that you know, be intentional and choose.
