“No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62 (2 min 27 sec)

Preview

    1. The act of "putting a hand to the plow" is the decision to undertake the spiritual journey.

Once this decision is made, looking back represents doubt or lingering attachment to the ego and the material world. Wavering between the ego's illusions and the truth of the Holy Spirit hinders true progress.
The present moment as the only time in which we experience God's Love and peace. Looking back indicates a focus on past experiences and regrets, which distracts from the present where healing and salvation occur. The "kingdom of God" is experienced now, not in past or future illusions.
The practice of forgiveness is releasing past grievances and judgments. Looking back at these grievances keeps us bound to the ego's narrative, preventing our minds from being wholly dedicated to service and love. True service in the "kingdom of God" involves a mind purified of past judgments and aligned with the Holy Spirit's guidance.
Divided allegiance between spiritual awakening and the ego's demands leads to inner conflict and hinders spiritual progress. Jesus' statement in Luke 9:62 is a call for our undivided attention and dedication to the path of awakening.
Looking back is clinging to fear and guilt, which are key barriers to recognizing our true nature as extensions of God's Love. We are encouraged to release  these emotions through the practice of forgiveness and the acceptance of the Atonement. In doing so, we become fit for the "kingdom of God," which is the recognition of our oneness with God and all creation.
Luke 9:62 serves as a reminder of the importance of unwavering commitment to the spiritual path, the necessity of focusing on the present moment, and the release of past attachments through forgiveness. It underscores the call to devote ourselves wholly to the practice of love.
Jesus is a model of love and forgiveness who came to redeem humanity from its own imperfections.
