Our Thoughts Matter More Than We Think. (3 min 25 sec)

    1. The ripple effect of our consciousness.

When we talk about “content” in the context of A Course in Miracles (ACIM), we're not discussing the surface details — our unique perspectives, experiences, or the forms of our thoughts. We’re going deeper, peeling back the layers of individuality to the core truth: there is only one mind.
Think of it this way: if the mind is like a vast, universal ocean, the waves and ripples we see on its surface represent our individual thoughts and experiences. These are the forms—varied and distinct. But beneath those waves, at the level of the ocean's depth, there is only one body of water. There is only one vast, undivided sea. In the same way, despite the seeming diversity of our individual thoughts and experiences, there is only one true mind—one shared consciousness that we all partake in.
Our individual minds, despite their apparent separateness, are actually interconnected. This means that every thought we think, every judgment we make, and every belief we hold is not just a personal affair but a shared experience. The content of our minds—the underlying themes, the core beliefs, the fundamental ideas—are the same. We are all plugged into the same universal consciousness, experiencing different variations of the same fundamental ideas.
This is provocative because it challenges our deep-seated belief in our separateness. It calls into question the very notion of individuality. The idea that “there is only one mind” isn’t just a theoretical concept; it has real-world implications. If our minds are indeed interconnected at their core, then every thought we harbor affects the whole. Every act of kindness or cruelty, every moment of forgiveness or judgment, reverberates through this shared mind.
So, when ACIM talks about the oneness of the mind, it’s inviting us to recognize that our perceptions of separation are illusions. It’s challenging us to see beyond the form—the individual waves—and to connect with the ocean beneath. It’s about understanding that our true selves are not these isolated entities, but rather integral parts of a greater whole.
In practical terms, this means that when we change our thoughts, we are not just altering our personal experience but contributing to the transformation of the shared mind. Every act of healing, every shift in perception, is a ripple that influences the entire ocean. By embracing this idea, we open ourselves to the profound possibility that healing and transformation are not just personal journeys but collective experiences.
This view shifts the focus from individual struggles to a more holistic understanding of our shared existence. It’s not just about personal growth; it’s about contributing to the collective evolution of consciousness.
