1. The ego’s mirage vs. the blazing truth.
Perception. The ego’s mirage vs. the blazing truth.
We walk around thinking we know what’s what, but perception is a trickster, a mirage made up by the ego to keep us blind to reality. Think about it: Perception isn’t grounded in fact. It’s distorted by the mind’s biases, past experiences, fears, and desires. It's subjective — a fogged-up lens. And while you’re busy defending your perception, you’re standing on shaky ground.
Perception: You walk into a room, and two people stop talking. The ego jumps in, whispering, “They were talking about you.” Suddenly, you're angry or paranoid, wrapped up in a false narrative. But that’s just perception, nothing more than the ego’s fiction, playing off your insecurity.
Fact: They weren’t even talking about you. They just finished a conversation. The truth is simple, untainted by judgment. There was nothing to interpret, just what is.
Perception: You feel like your life is a mess because you don’t have the perfect job, the perfect relationship, or the perfect bank account. The ego feeds off of comparison, making you believe you’re failing.
Fact: Life doesn’t give a damn about your ego’s checklist. It is as it is. You’re breathing, alive, and in this moment. That’s the only fact here — the rest is ego-driven noise. Success isn’t real in the eyes of truth, only in the eyes of your own skewed perception.
Perception: Someone cuts you off in traffic. The ego paints them as rude, selfish, a menace. Your blood boils as you speed up to give them a dirty look.
Fact: You don’t know their story. Maybe they’re rushing to the hospital, maybe they’re lost in their thoughts. The truth doesn’t need you to judge it. It just exists, neutral, without your interpretation.
Perception is small, finite, and based on the limited capacity of the human mind. It’s fear-driven and ego-fed. Facts are infinite — they are rooted in what’s real, untouchable by the illusions of the mind. The truth — the present moment, life itself, God, Love — doesn’t need your perception. It’s simply there, blazing, waiting for you to wake up and see it.
The question is, are you willing to let go of the ego’s mirage and face the truth, or are you still chasing shadows?
