We're just kids in grown-up clothes, pretending we’ve got it all figured out. Pretending we know the way. Pretending we have the answers. Pretending we’ve cracked the code that can’t be cracked. Pretending we know what love really means. Pretending we care about the folks next door. Pretending we don’t wake up with an emptiness that gnaws at our insides. Pretending we’ve got something stashed away that’s worth more than air. Pretending we’re not afraid. Pretending these stick figures we call “selves” are anything but illusions. Pretending we’re not asleep.

But hey, as long as we remember this is just the game we’ve chosen to play.
