Pros & Cons of Cultus Triathlon
I"m trying to decide between 2 multisport events on a September weekend. One is a Sprint Triathlon, the other is a Swim-Run (open-water swimming alternating with running - I will do a Pro/Con for that event the next time).
1. Pro: I'm familiar with Sprint Triathlon
2. Con: I'd have to increase training volume in 3 events instead of just one
3. Con: Hills
The bike and run will likely have steep climbs
4. Con: Increasing bike training outside would be difficult and time consuming
5. Pro: Easier for my Family to Cheer Me On
I would go through the transition area twice, plus the local lake has a waterpark where they could entertain themselves while I race.
6. Pro: Closer to home
7. Pro: Safer
Related to #1 - I'll know what I'm doing.
8. Pro: No New Equipment
9. Pro: Return to Glory
Maybe I should make sure I can still handle the 'classic' multisport event before I go diving into something new...
