Second jab at 10 topics and pieces of trivia everyone needs to know upon graduating high school.
My first list had esoteric trivia and knowledge.
Based upon the entries I've seen from @eyegor and @RayInNJ I'm changing it up.
Here are 10 practical topics and experiences for everyone to know upon graduating high school.

- Learning to hammer a nail in a wall
- Learning how to use a level
- Learning how to drill into a wall
- Learning about various wall anchors
1. Learn what it's like to be at the end of life.
Nearly every high school student thinks they are invincible. Their lives would be enriched if they could spend time with people in hospice care who are facing death with dignity.
2. Salesmanship and rejection
I'm always impressed with young people in high volume sales settings with high amounts of rejection, such as a host or hostess at a busy street front restaurant on Ocean Avenue in Miami.
Every person that passes by is asked by them to step inside their restuarant and their hit rate must be less than 1%. Great lesson for life!
3. The power of interest in financial matters.
I touched on the importance of learning about exponential or geometric growth in my last list. From a practical standpoint I would ensure all high school graduates understood the implication of interest rate change in savings and debt.
4. Basic toilet plumbing and maintenance
I have replaced seemingly countless toilet valves in my homes over my adult life and I thought I taught my daughters well, but once in high school while away at a soccer tournament, my daughter needed her coach's help to fix a toilet in a hotel room. She should have known what to do on her own!
5. How to change a flat tire
The title says it all!
6. How to hang pictures.
This requires the followig skills:
7. Learning how to bake and how to fry food.
No joke here, one of my daughter's friends literally didn't beleive that one could make breaded chicken nuggets at home. They thought it was some magical technology available only to restaurants.
Before they graduate, everyone should learn how to bake bread, make fried and battered food of some sort.
As a bonus, combine the two and learn how to make donuts.
8. Learn how to play poker
Everyone could benefit from learning poker. The social skills learnt from betting and bluffing are invaluable, as are the math skills.
9. Experience the ocean at night
Everyone should on a small sailboat at night to experience the vast darkness and insignficance of our presence among the greater environment.
10. Experience and understand they are worthy of unqualified love
Every young person should have some adult itell them and tell them often: "You are worthy of love."
