Some things to avoid if you want to become a millionaire
Becoming a millionaire from scratch is a culmination of good choices. It will not happen, just because you believe it will or you want it to happen you have to take action steps in that direction and making those positive choices till you cross that threshold.
Everyone’s path is different so no 2 people are going to encounter the same obstacles, but there are many things that successful people have in common and many things that people should avoid.
It is all about your mindset and actions.
You need to image what kind of world you want to create, basically what goal you want to achieve, does it create value? And then take actions to create that future.
But there will be many pitfalls along the way that you will need to step around to reach the mountaintop.
1. Bad mindset
Sometimes I get depressed and I do not want to do anything. But then I push through to the other side. Believe that you can never do it or will never make it. You won’t make it if you don’t believe it.
And then talk about it.
I have found that the more I communicate about something the more real it becomes.
2. Laziness
You will most likely have to put in a lot of work even when you do not want to.
Don't think about it, just do it.
3. Toxic people
This should be first on the list. I have known a lot of people that will dump all over you are scream at you and tell you, you are wrong or crazy or evil.
Just let them go and keep moving.
4. Along with Toxic people - Debby downers. Eeyore's - Winnie the pooh character
People that think everything sucks even if you are eating cavier in the penthouse of the Ritz Carleton.
They are getting something out of bringing everything down a peg.
AVOID
There are too many great things in life.
5. Cults aka crazy ideas
There is a line between believing you can accomplish a goal that has not yet happened and believing that the world is going to end on X date and some dude has a direct connection to GOD.
Do not get sucked into a cult, because at some point they will ask for all your money, devotion and soul.
6. Scam, ponzi scheme, MLM
I lump these orgs in with the cult list above.
7. Toxic relationship
Someone that is abuse verbally, physically or financially. Or does not really believe in you.
8. Lying. 1: To yourself. 2: To other people.
I was in a relationship where I kept telling myself that the other person loved me even though the behavior said otherwise, that relationship ended in disaster and I was a mess. First, be brutally honest with yourself and then with the people around you. Even when the truth is hard, messy, disastrous. The truth is better than the alternative.
9. Advertising
This is the other side of lying. Just like you should not lie to others, you have to be vigilant to not believe lies. There are tons of them floating around out there. Ask yourself: Is this true and why is this statement true?
There is not jetpack to wealth, just decisions/actions that move you toward your goal.
10. Overspending
See Sam Walton and Warren Buffett. Frugality often leads to wealth.
11. Underspending
Sam Walter borrowed a lot of money to open new Walmart stores. Buffett paid a lot of money for BNSF. You should be buying assets that make you money.
12. Bad education
We indoctrinate children to believe in the American education system. And for 99% of people that is good thing. But a lot of student go into massive debt to fund an education that they may not even really want. Ask yourself that really tough question: Do I really want this and am I willing to spend X dollars and years working toward this goal?
13. Overgiving
It is great to be charitable. You should be charitable. But the more money you have the more you have to give away. Don’t give away your shirt, you are going to need it.
