1. You Were Never Powerless.
You say you're powerless, but powerless over what exactly? A made-up problem? The mind is far greater than the illusion it creates, and that's where things get a little harry — it’s an illusion you built. The addiction, the chaos, the "unmanageable" life — it’s all smoke and mirrors, a brilliant con by the ego to keep you trapped in a loop of false identity.
The only thing you're powerless over is your belief in the illusion. The ego concocts a crisis, dresses it up as addiction, or some other external struggle, and convinces you that this mirage holds the power. The Course reminds us that the world and all its problems are illusory. You can't be powerless over something that doesn't even exist. The mind is far greater than any "problem" because the problem itself is a fabrication. When you recognize this, the foundation of the illusion collapses.
So why does your life feel unmanageable? Because you’re buying into the ego’s fear factory, mistaking the shadow for reality. The mind creates its own prisons, only to forget it holds the key. Here’s the truth: you are not powerless. You never were. What’s unmanageable is your belief in the illusion. When the illusion is exposed, you step into the reality of your power - because the only thing that ever needed fixing was your perception.
You weren’t powerless over the problem. You were powerless because you believed the problem was real.
