Ten Common PC Issues
Spent a couple hours early today with my dear PC, which decided it wanted to crash and burn the better part of this morning. Just updated Windows and ran both Dell Support Assistant and Norton Drivers which updated drivers. It would reboot, then crash and burn again.
It did stay alive long enough at times to get to ChatGPT, which walked me through a few things to fix it and things to do if the problems come back. And it does seem (if I believe Event Viewer) to be good for now.
So, figured I'd do this list today.
1. Slow Performance
Programs take too long to load, caused by low RAM, too many background apps, or a fragmented hard drive.
2. Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)
System crashes due to driver conflicts, hardware failures, or corrupted files.
3. Overheating
Fans running loudly or the PC shutting down unexpectedly due to dust buildup, poor airflow, or failing cooling systems.
4. Internet Connectivity Problems
Slow or dropped connections caused by outdated drivers, router issues, or malware.
5. Startup Problems
PC won’t boot properly because of corrupted boot files, faulty power supply, or BIOS issues.
6. Software Crashes
Apps freezing or closing unexpectedly due to bugs, outdated versions, or insufficient resources.
7. Peripheral Issues
Printers, webcams, or external drives not being recognized due to bad drivers or faulty cables.
8. Virus or Malware Infections
Unwanted programs slowing down performance, showing ads, or stealing data.
9. Noisy Hardware
Clicking hard drives, buzzing fans, or coil whine indicating failing components.
10. Update & Driver Problems
Windows updates breaking features, or outdated drivers causing compatibility issues.
