Ten Fall / Winter Goals

Only a couple weeks left of high school football officiating (assumes we get a first round playoff game but go no further), the leaves are falling and the snow will soon be here. So, since I have some more time on my hands, what am I going to do with it?

    1. Regular Exercise Routine

I -KNOW- that regular stretching and exercise is good for me. But it tends to be the first thing that goes when I'm tired or stressed, or stuck in "veg out" mode. Will strive to change this.

    2. Get Signed Up For Medicare

Gotta get this done by December 7, but this week will schedule meeting with advisor who helped the wife. May also talk to boss about moving off the company plan in exchange for work covering the Medicare costs for me and the wife. Just need to figure out how to cover our son, who is 18.

    3. Heating - Get Furnace Maintenance Scheduled, Chimney Cleaned

Needs a routine servicing (after a Wednesday night emergency leak fix a few weeks ago - awaiting that bill). And, we are coming due for having the chimney for our wood stove cleaned. Didn't use a lot last winter, so can hold off if need be.

    4. Revisit And Promote At Least One Side-Gig

On the list - push my book (about men's college fraternity recruitment), clean up and push the AI pattern generated wrapping paper site, or the RedBubble site with a variety of AI pattern items. Also need to "sh*t or get off the pot" about doing the non-profit copywriting / consulting business I want to do in retirement.

    5. Health

Just had physical, awaiting bloodwork results. Expect arthritis factors high (my hands and back know this), but hope that's it. Doing a sleep study to try to fix that side of things. Weight is up. And do need a hearing test soon...

    6. Detach Personal PC From Church Work

I am running the church financials on my old PC, which is Win10. Want to move it to a mini PC (bought it) that I can then turn over "as is" to the church when I resign from being the treasurer. Which I want to do in 2026.

    7. Cut Back On Wasteful Activities / Be More Efficient With Time

Cutting out doom scrolling first and foremost. Focusing on what's important - for me, best when I do a written list.

    8. Write

I used to do the 750 Words site, doing at least that amount a day. Not always perfect, but fairly consistent. Need to get back to that while keeping things going here. And find other things to write about - just disassembled the son's lacrosse goal (he wanted it to go), which goes to the trash Friday. There's a story in that pile of steel and nylon - from giving up baseball in 2nd grade to playing through high school. I plan to write it.

    9. House Stuff

Basement needs de-cluttered - I can't tolerate being down there to exercise or use my (portable) sauna with all the clutter the family has down there. Need to donate / toss / sell. Then clean. Also have several smaller repairs that need done - a leaky bathroom faucet, the screen door the dog dented, etc.

    10. Fun Stuff

Finish and use the fire pit the son wanted to set up. Get back to playing some Electric Football (stocked up on teams and bases during COVID, but stopped playing since it is set up in the basement). More leisure reading.
