Ten Places To Take A "Secret" Nap

When our son was at daycare, I'd stop in a parking lot about two minutes from there before picking him up. Set the watch (or later phone) alarm for 20 minutes, radio on low, windows cracked open, and get what was usually a great nap. Woke up energized. Got me thinking - where else to get a nap?

    1. The Car in Your Driveway (Parked, Not Running)

Lean the seat back “just for a minute.” Wake up 22 minutes later questioning time itself.

    2. A Conference Room Five Minutes Before a Meeting

You’re “reviewing notes.” Lights off, door closed. Productivity adjacent.

    3. The Couch After Lunch (Officially a ‘Digestive Pause’)

Blanket optional. TV volume low enough to pretend you’re still conscious.

    4. Your Desk, Headphones On, Spreadsheet Open

The classic. If anyone asks, you were “thinking through a formula.”

    5. A Park Bench on a Mild Day

Sun on your face, breeze just right. Nature’s version of a weighted blanket.

    6. The Bathroom Stall (Last Resort, High Risk)

Not proud. But sometimes necessary. Set a timer—this is not a lifestyle.

    7. Passenger Seat on a “Quick” Errand Run

“I’ll just wait in the car.” Legendary last words.

    8. The Back Row of a Quiet Library

Surrounded by books you’re definitely not reading.

    9. A Recliner in a Furniture Store

    “Testing comfort.” Thoroughly. Very thoroughly.

    10. Right After You Say, ‘I’ll Just Rest My Eyes for a Second’

he most dangerous location of all. No coordinates. No warning. Always works.
