Ten Things I Don't Do (At Least Regularly) That I Should

Following up from the other day...

    1. Leave work at work

Technology gets me here. My bad habit is checking e-mails too much, and when I do, I act on what needs acted on. Latest was Friday afternoon, 45 minutes on something that could have waited until today.

    2. Exercise regularly

There isn't an optimal place in the house to stretch / exercise, so I tend to blow it off. And that ain't good.

    3. Intentionally Relax

Trying to get a short cat nap when I get home from work (2:30pm or so)

    4. Stick to the task

I have a number of irons in the fire for side gigs, and tend to skip around among them. Right now, its Substack. Trying to get a system and habits going there. And fighting hard to temporarily ignore the others.

    5. Reach out to family / friends

Other than a text chat with a small friend group and FB, I talk to my brother weekly, my sister occasionally, and friends when they call.

    6. House Repairs

Don't have any proficiency in this area, maybe a little electrical and cleaning out a clogged elbow under a sink. So, things that don't -have- to get done (by a pro) don't get done promptly.

    7. Changes of Venue

I'm a home body (after a lot of travel in my 20's ad 30's), but do like the occasional weekend trip close by. The change does help, but finances don't always permit.

    8. Pet Care

Mostly I don't walk the dog as much as he'd prefer (wife and son don't, either), and don't visit the older cats (they won't come out of the basement because of the dog) other than feeding them in the early AM (wife checks on them in the evening).

    9. Read

I tend to read in spurts, but lately I just don't feel like sitting down with a book, and I have a few "in the hopper."

    10. "Luxury" Things

Nothing too fancy, but things I've done in the past that aren't "necessary" like trying to bake bread, make root beer and cheese, grow a herb garden. I have a nice peppermint garden (helps with skeeters in the summer, and smells good), but that's more a fight to cut them back.
