The block feature

Elon Musk was talking about getting rid of it on X, so what alternatives exist?

1. Free speech

By removing it it allows everyone to have a say, but do you really want to be notified for obvious trolling?  Maybe you could block them, but it's up to other user's to confirm if the comment was a troll, abuse etc.

Example - you're an idiot.  Rocco thinks ....

I'd block based on trolling/mind reading and my followers could then confirm/denie the reason.  If enough confirm they're then blocked from commenting on my posts.  

2. Timer

Maybe they can be blocked for different time frames.  Some block's will be far longer than others (abuse vs a troll.)

Each time you get blocked the time extends.

3. Downvotes

Rate every reply and filter by most liked/controversial.  The bad replies will be as good as blocked, but still allows them to have a say.

Maybe it could Also be filtered by followers/non follower's to help with bias.  

4. Mute

I don't need to see what their saying.  Others can..

Then again do you really want someone commenting on something without being able to defend yourself? 

It could show up that they've been muted and others could have the option to do the same. 

Follower's could automatically have them muted when you mute them.

5. Share to

Limit who can see posts in the first place.  You should always assume everyone can see everything you post on the internet, but this at least limit's the bother you'll receive.

6. Random

Show blocked replies to random users for a fairer rating.
