1. Discipline is spiritual vanity.
You ever notice how discipline is put on a pedestal in spiritual circles? Meditation, prayer, fasting — it’s all about doing, striving for that next level of enlightenment or divine connection. But this whole idea of discipline is spiritual self-aggrandizement. It’s the ego’s sneaky way of making us believe that we’re not already connected to God.
Think about it. We’ve bought into this idea that we need to work hard to become worthy of divine love. It’s like the ego has convinced us that we’re flawed, separate from God, and that only through strict discipline can we claw our way back to some higher truth. But the truth? We’re already there. Already perfect. Already one with God.
The moment you start thinking, “Look at all the spiritual effort I’m putting in,” the ego’s doing a little victory dance. Discipline becomes about making the self-image look more holy, more deserving. It’s ego enhancement disguised as spirituality.
But real spiritual practice isn’t about doing anything. It’s about undoing the belief that you’re separate from God. The ego wants you to think you’re getting closer to God, but the truth is — you’ve never been apart.
