What we call love is really just a set of emotional transactions. You meet someone, they make you feel good, and suddenly you’re hooked. But is that Love? No and no — it’s dependency, a fearful bargain to fill the emptiness the ego insists you have. We mistake attachment for love, thinking that our happiness hinges on someone else. But real love doesn’t have conditions. If you’re looking to get something in return, that’s not love; it’s a demand. We give to get, and then wonder why it leaves us unfulfilled.
