The Self You Run From. (1 min 14 sec)

Preview

    1. Why your dark corners define you.

The self you refuse to look at — the deep, shadowy, uncomfortable aspects of your being — is precisely where your truth resides. Why is it uncomfortable? Because it exposes everything you've been trying to hide: your fears, insecurities, the beliefs that challenge the false self you’ve carefully constructed. We identify with the shallow, surface layers of who we think we are because it’s easier — it’s familiar, socially acceptable, and doesn’t demand deep introspection. But this is only a mask, a distraction from the real work of facing the truth.
The shadow self is uncomfortable because it demands honesty. It’s the part of you that holds the contradictions, the unresolved emotions, the things you’ve denied or buried. And yet, no matter how hard you try to suppress it, you meet this self all day long, in the form of relationships, conflicts, desires, and emotions. Life becomes a series of encounters with this hidden part of you, dressed up as other people, situations, or challenges.
In truth, you are constantly confronted with your own reflection. The many faces you see are simply manifestations of what you refuse to integrate. Until you face this shadow, you remain fragmented, trapped in the illusion of separation. You aren’t what you think you are — your egoic image — but rather what you’ve ignored, avoided, and run from. And the irony? You’ll keep running into yourself until you stop and face what’s always been there.
