Things I regret not doing on trips

"Regret" is a big word ( @BillBergeman has a great list on regret), but let's say these are mistakes that I'll keep in mind for my future trips. Most of my travels have been very low-budget, but now I'd like to make more efforts to do some of the worthwhile touristy things.

    1. Pyramids in Mexico

    2. Snorkeling in Mexico

    3. Surfing in Portugal

    4. Lapland

I hitchhiked all the way from Helsinki up to Rovaniemi back in 2013, it was hard. I ended up going back immediately because my grandma was dying. So, I definitely don't regret coming back for that, but I'd like to go back to that region of the world and stay for a bit to get a chance to see the northern lights. I'm more drawn to Norway.

    5. Exploring the Canadian Rockies

I hitchhiked through Canada (from Saguenay, Quebec) and while it was amazing, I was mostly trying to get to Vancouver as fast as possible (although I did couchsurf in Winnipeg for a few nights), and it would have been nice to stay somewhere in the Rockies.

    6. Malibu

For some reason, I really wanted to check out Malibu back when I was hitchhiking in the US with my then-girlfriend in 2015. She didn't want to. Oh well.

    7. Exploring Armenia beyond Yerevan

I absolutely loved Yerevan. I did see some church ruins outside the city, but other than that I didn't explore the country. Not to worry though, I know I'll be back!

    8. Iran beyond Tehran

I know I missed out on so much! It's been over nine years now.

    9. Kazakhstan beyond the cities

I liked Almaty, loved Nur-Sultan (because it's so weird), and thought Kostanay was awful (11th city in terms of population, my girlfriend's aunt lives there). It seems like Kazakhstan has beautiful nature, and it would have been nice to see some of it. I loved the overnight trains between the cities but it kind of looked like an uglier and greyer version of Belgium.

    10. West Bank

I spent ten days in Israel a few years ago, and while we did visit the West Bank, we only went to Bethlehem for a few hours (and we also ended up somewhere near Jerusalem because we took the wrong bus). Next time, I'd like to take a closer look at how both the Palestinian and Jewish populations live in the West Bank.
