Things to give up in '23
Inspired by the list posted by @briceno:

1. Collections
Sell off some ("collected' GI Joes - not the ones I enjoy, but the ones I bought to collect), give some away (70's baseball cards, but little value from what I'm told - some youngun' might appreciate it, the kid's rock collection.
2. The current job
Not to leave (yet... working on how that happens), but to reduce its space in my head. They're calling it quiet quitting. Give them a fair work day, but not do extra or extend myself. Not a bad job, but limiting and not rewarding as it used to be. More dealing with bureaucracy and reports and less with being innovative and generating revenue.
3. Crappy Food
Did good with cutting out sugar and carbs, but slipped for the holidays. Am back at it.
4. Household Junk
This is the previously reported de-cluttering initiative. Old clothes, tech, furniture, tools, etc. Get rid of it!
5. Time wasting
Limit social media. Limit TV. Maybe actually scheduling these and other time wasting things between getting things done.
6. Unnecessary Purchases
Do you (or the family) need it? Do you need it now, or can it wait? Can you get it less expensively?
Some things are necessary but may be optional - family Friday dinner delivery.
7. Subscriptions
Streaming, unused software (some anti-virus), and whatever I don't use regularly.
8. My expectations for our son
Almost there already (he gave up baseball when he was 6 for lacrosse), but he is almost 16 and his life direction is his choice, not ours. As long as it is something that fulfills him and he's capable of living in the world on his own.
9. Retirement
Realizing that even if the finances were totally "there" I need to be working to some extent to make it worthwhile getting out of bed. Lots that can be done.
10. Playing Nice
Not a lot of need, but for people (family) who have treated me and/or my family poorly, rather than going along to get along, I'm ready to tell them what I really think, damn the torpedoes!
