Thoughts on a Birthday
Sort of random, but it is my birthday, and these are just some ideas that occur to me around it.

1. I can't believe I'm this old.
2. Really, it's just another day.
3. In my head, I'm still in my 30s or so.
4. Weird to think that I probably have fewer years left to live than I have had at my current job.
I've been at my day job for over 30 years. While it's conceivable I could live into my 90s, it's not likely.
5. Slowing down seems right.
Not quitting. Just taking a sabbatical and figuring out what I really want to do next.
6. There are a lot of ships that have sailed.
I'm not going to hike all over the Smoky Mountains any more like I used to.
7. There are more ships still that could be boarded—maybe still being built.
There are still new things ahead.
