30+ years as an entrepreneur. Lots of pivots. Mostly good. Lessons. To do the next thing. And build on what's worked.

    1. Dog training

Easy peasy. I've trained literally thousands of dogs. Actually, I'm successful because I've trained thousands of people. The dog part is easy.

    2. Marketing 101

I owned an advertising agency before I started training dogs. My motto then, which holds true 2 decades later.. if you don't invite people to the party, no one is coming. Figure out where your people are and send them invites in every medium that is available to them.

    3. Fitness as a lifestyle

I'm a 9x Ironman finisher. When I started out doing my first small triathlon I learned I didn't know how to swim. I dog paddled. I learned how to swim because I got hooked on triathlon, which led to Ironman distance which led to getting to the World Championship twice. It's a lifestyle that followed me. Not Ironman. Fitness. I can teach you how to be consistent at it even if you suck to start with.

    4. Canva

Creating social media images is a thing. There's a lot of difficult programs the "pros" use. If you know how to use Canva you can look like a pro quickly. I started using Canva years ago. It's gotten way better. I can teach it to anyone who wants to up their social media game with better images.

    5. Blogging

I stared blogging in 1999 when no one really knew what it was. It got me a long ways in SEO for my business. It got me writing gigs in the dog world. It got me producing an entire program from video to training guides for a companyt that found me from my blog posts.

I quit doing it for awhile. I've been sporadic about it. But I know that getting consistent again would do the same thing for me as what it did in the past. In fact I believe it could go even bigger, because when I did it before, the world did not exist as web based for everything. It's different now. Everyone looks for information online now. Write more. You'll get found.

    6. Pinterest

Back to my marketing 101. Facebook is not a search engine. Pinterest is. Buyers search for things on Pinterest. I spent a lot of time marketing on Pinterest. It's simple. Write a good blog post. Refer to #5. Add a great image. Refer to #4. Post it on Pinterest with good keywords. Whala! It's another skill I'm pretty good at.
