Ways that the Disciplined Agile (DASM Certification) is misunderstood

I took a Disciplined Agile Scrum Master course on Thursday and Friday. Before I took the course I had some misconceptions about what PMI was trying to accomplish with this new "certification". Here are some of the misconceptions that were corrected.

Ways that the Disciplined Agile (DASM Certification) is misunderstood
Preview

    1. DASM is just another way for PMI to monetize certification

I thought that DASM certification was PMI's response to the increase in Agile and Agile certifications. I thought thta PMI was running in to say 'we can do agile too!' While they may be trying to do that 😊, I can now see some value in the DASM certification. Instead of fossilizing Agile, it seems to be bringing different Agile Frameworks together and giving Scrum masters or Team Leads the ability to thoughtfully coach their teams, using whatever framework seems most appropriate.

    2. DASM isn't really trying to encourage Agile.

I don't know why, but I thought that the DA Browser was just another way to PMBOKTize Agile. Document it, put it on a website. I've since learned that it's not like the Tools and Techniques of the PMBOK. The DA Browser is really a reference to give Scrum Masters, Team Leads or Coaches a reference guide. The decisions and Ways of working are chosen by the team.

    3. DASM isn't another framework

They are not creating another method. It is simply a toolkit.
