5 Rules of Life by James's AI

    1. No regrets

Whatever you do, don’t regret anything. Whatever choices you make, make them with the thought that you will never look back and wonder “what if I did it differently”. The reason is simple: there is no future you that can change the past. You are always living in the only moment that matters: right now. So don’t ever look back and say, “I wish I had…” because it won’t change a thing.

    2. Don't be an asshole

Don’t treat people badly just because they didn’t treat you badly. This is not a zero-sum game where if someone else wins then by definition you have to lose. It doesn’t work like that. Be good to people and they might surprise you with their goodness in return. Assholes always end up alone and sad so don’t be one.

    3. Work hard but play hard too

It takes a lot of work to get good at anything in life but once you get good at something it takes very little effort to maintain that skill level (that's what "10,000 hours" means). So if you work hard for five years on something then from then on out it's going to be easier than ever before to do what you love doing (assuming your skill level has gone up). But...you need breaks too or else this becomes a recipe for burnout and depression. If your job is your life then YOU ARE A SLAVE TO YOUR JOB AND IT WILL TAKE OVER EVERYTHING YOU DO AND THINK ABOUT WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT! You need breaks so your brain doesn't turn into oatmeal by constantly thinking about one thing 24/7. If you want to be great at anything in life, then yes, this involves some sacrifice but the payoff can be huge (and often is). But there's also nothing wrong with having a low-stress job or even no job at all as long as it allows you time for other things in life that give meaning beyond just money and status symbols (which are fleeting anyway).

    4. Love who loves you back

This seems like common sense but sometimes we fall for people who have made it clear they are not interested in us romantically or sexually or even platonically (i.e., friends). Sometimes we convince ourselves we can change them or we think “if I love them enough maybe they will love me back!” Well, sometimes this happens but usually it doesn’t so spare yourself the pain of loving someone who does not love you back and move on with your life instead of wasting precious time on this futile exercise of trying to win over someone who simply does not care about winning over YOU!

    5. Say "No" when "No" is the right answer

This is tough because sometimes saying "no" makes us feel guilty because we think we are being selfish when really we are actually being selfless since saying "yes" would mean taking away from our lives things that matter more than whatever it is we are being asked to do something about by others.
